Yes, this is the same story you read when you were a child. It was fun then, and it's still fun now! It might even be more fun because of the wonderfully bright and beautiful illustrations.

Just in case you don't remember The House that Jack Built, here's a reminder. "This is the house that Jack built." "This is the malt that lay in the house that Jack built." "This is the rat that ate the malt that lay in the house that Jack built." Is it coming back to you now?

The rhyming text that builds upon itself, page after page, encourages young children to "read" along with mom or dad. In doing so, the text reinforces the pre-reading skills of rhyme and word recognition, not to mention memory skills.

As an added bonus, a ten-minute Storytime CD is included in the back of the book. One of the two tracks offers page-turning signals for beginning readers.

My little ones have enjoyed reading and listening to this book over and over again. If you've never read this classic story to your children, this version with its great illustrations would be a good place to start.
