The New Testament Quick Study guide is a sturdy, laminated overview of the New Testament portion of the Holy Bible. The size of an 8.5 by 11-inch piece of paper and three-hole-punched to fit nicely into a notebook, the New Testament Quick Study guide unfolds to 6 pages of information.
The majority of the guide is dedicated to the books of the New Testament. Each of the 27 books is listed, along with information as to its authorship, place of composition, purpose, key themes, and a brief outline.
There are also little boxes of information regarding a historical and literary overview of the New Testament, sources for the synoptic gospels, relationship between the synoptic gospels, and the formation of the New Testament Canon. Over a full page is dedicated to a glossary of terms, where, for example, you can learn that the synoptic gospels are Matthew, Mark and Luke, and they are called such because common source material appears to have been used.
My favorite part of the guide is the timeline that runs along the bottom inch and a half of the inner three pages. The timeline begins with Rome ruling over Palestine around 63 BC and ends with the Apostle John dying in 100 AD.
The general idea of this guide seems to be "Just the facts, ma'am!" It seems to be missing heart. But it is such a short little overview, what else could one expect?
This New Testament Quick Study guide is not meant to be a theological exegesis. If this is what you are looking for, you will be greatly disappointed. It is meant to give clear and concise information only.
Listed at only $5.95, the New Testament Quick Study guide is well worth the price. It is well made and built to withstand several years of use. You could find more information about the New Testament by consulting a good study Bible or by doing your own research. But this guide is simply designed to remind you of what you already know or to provide quick reference. For bare bones and basic facts, New Testament Quick Study is a nice resource.
