Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen Review by Lyria Moore

Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen is a most enjoyable book for your little wigglebottoms at home. I opened the book to the first page and couldn't believe how accurate the description was compared to my little wigglebottom! How did Mr. Binkow know!? Needless to say, my little wigglebottom had trouble sitting still to listen to this book being read.

The story is about a rabbit named Howard B. Wigglebottom, who has trouble listening at school. Several examples of the consequences of his choices are explained to the children. In the end, discipline is what teaches Howard to listen. Since it is a child training book, it comes with a checklist of sorts to go over with your children after you read the story (this checklist can also be printed off from the website and hung up in your child's room as a reminder). On the last page are discussion questions listed with page references for those parents who like to stop reading and ask questions during the storytelling.

Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen is the most wonderful approach to behavior training I've ever read. It's so easy to read to the children and enjoyable for them to listen to and follow the illustrations. I can easily see how this book can be incorporated into any homeschooling schedule. It's perfect for when the children need a break but Mama still wants to give them something to think about. This book makes the children think because it puts the problem in language they can understand. Parents can even ask the children what the best solution is for the problems Howard experiences at school. This is a favorite book in my home, and I know it will quickly become the same in yours.
