Show a Little Love and Watch Me Sing Review by Heidi Shaw

These two CDs are full of bright, fun songs. Life lessons and moral messages are coated in nice rhythms and bouncy tunes. The older kids didn't appreciate them too much, but my 6-year-old daughter enjoys them a lot. Kids participate in many of the songs, and it is pleasant background music while school is going on or while the kids are playing. I often find with fun CDs like this that the kids start humming and singing the tunes on their own, showing me that they go right to heart very quickly. I like that they aren't full of complicated words and busy music. Most feature just a few voices and a nice ensemble of musical instruments that are identifiable to the kids. My daughter can hear the drums, trumpets, and other instruments. Some of the songs are reminiscent of older show tunes, but to me that just makes them all the more comfortable and familiar since I grew up with that type of music. I did find that a few moralistic songs went a bit far, but to each his own (Never tell a lie, not even Santa?). It is a cute beat, though!

The Watch Me Sing CD has some neat songs that teach kids how to hear the beat, how to learn to sing along, and how to count and clap along to the music--a perfect music introduction for the 2- to 4-year-old set. FUN!
