When my kids were young, I admit it: we bought videos produced by Disney. No, not all of them, not even most of what Disney had produced. But we did buy a select few because we considered them "clean" enough to not cause too much damage. After all, we had to be careful; today's entertainment for children is sorely lacking in good morals (in general), but even more importantly, in godly character. It's fun to sit down with popcorn and banana splits and watch a family film with the kids, especially when it's a quality production with the ability to engage. And if a film can educate with a biblical worldview while entertaining, that's even better.
I was excited to find the NestFamily videos. I have to say, though, that I was surprised at the quality of the films. I honestly expected a measure of "cheesiness" since the brand wasn't on par with the almighty Disney. But I was wrong. They are every bit as good in quality, but far better in substance and content. I didn't have to worry about liberal slants, New Age garbage, or an unbiblical worldview. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves as a family when watching Nest films. The biographies Nest offers are great, and the company has many to choose from. I love that these are available for homeschoolers. These programs can be purchased either on DVD or video, and most, if not all, come with resource guides (workbooks) as well. What Disney movie do you know of that does that?
So with NestFamily, you learn. You get inspired, educated, and entertained. Homeschool families are efficient; we're not time wasters. Nest fits into that lifestyle beautifully. Here are a few films (with corresponding resource guides) to choose from--get them all: George Washington, Life of Louis Pasteur, Alexander Graham Bell, President Abraham Lincoln, Helen Keller, Benjamin Franklin, and several others. My kids love NestFamily, and so do I. NestFamily is highly recommended by The Old Schoolhouse Magazine.
